And here was our 2025 tree:

( 2026 Tree growth below )

Chico’s asking Miguel out on a date (his exact words). He's taking Miguel to a nice dinner (Miguel does not ask where his money comes from). He's peacing out after hanging out at Miguel's place and not even asking for a goodnight kiss and/or lay (obviously he was joking about it being a date, then). He's calling Miguel the next day asking if he wants to go out again on....... next next Tuesday (he has shit to do between then. How does Miguel think he's affording dinner?)(Miguel doesn't want to know).
He is calling Miguel up on Friday at 1 AM before next next Tuesday telling him to come to a strange location so he can crawl into Miguel's car and bleed all over the upholstery. He is "making" Miguel breakfast the next morning after being stitched and patched up in Miguel's kitchen (microwaved burritos are NOT a date, asshole) and he is saying, "Fine, 3rd date will be better, promise" (WASN'T A DATE); "What should we do?"
"How about something that doesn't involve getting shot at?"
So anyway, 3rd date is laser tag.
(Chico is very excited bc he was already Too Old™ when laser tag arenas started popping up and now, while he's definitely Too Old™, he's also free so he dgaf. He's going to shoot Miguel, goddammit! With a laser!) (He loses badly) (Blame it on his injury)
After laser tag, they get ice cream and it's actually been a very nice day so Miguel is feeling kind of bad about the whole conclusion he's come to, which is that he needs to destroy any delusion Chico has that these are actually dates or something (he's still not sure because Chico is not acting one iota differently than he always has toward Miguel except now he's describing them hanging out as going on dates), only once he's finally like (sigh) "Mira, Chico", Chico interrupts and is saying something about how he'd better get home soon because he has Another Place To Be tomorrow, at which point, Miguel's pretty sure he's been living with a second, hidden brain he didn't know about, because that second brain is running the calculations like "This pendejo asked us out almost a month ago and he hasn't even made a move yet. What is he, a monk?" while his first brain is still going "SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE DATES" meaning that the words Miguel ends up saying are:
"So are you inviting me over or what?"
